“In America, women and their bodies are viewed as a means to pleasure men, yet when they satisfy their own needs they are seen as ‘disgusting’ and ‘sl*ts’. While this piece was only intended to be a still life, I wanted to express the cultural impact on women and their sexuality.” - Anna Parlier

Acrylic Paint on Canvas
“This piece was inspired by the book Solaris by Stanislaw Lem. For Interlinked, I envisioned a world of multicellular organisms intertwining and coexisting under three suns. Their world is peaceful and chaotic, with no system to control them. Only nature, doing its divine duty.” - Anna Parlier
After the Storm
December 2022
Acrylic Paint on Canvas
“For this assignment, I was tasked with creating a piece based on shadows. Growing up, my mother had many beautiful flowers and plants in her garden. Whenever it would storm, petals would be everywhere and with our backyard prone to flooding, it was a complete mess. My child brain always thought the scenery was delightful. I dedicate this to my mom and grandmas. Their interest in gardening inspired me from a young age and I continue to enjoy the beauty of plant life within my own home and artwork.” - Anna Parlier
